New Strategies for Clan Wars
I know this weekend was Thanksgiving, and a lot of people had other obligations, but a big part of the reason we lost was that players didn't show up for war. So first we need to reiterate that IF YOU MAY NOT BE ABLE TO MAKE WAR, YOU NEED TO LET US KNOW AHEAD OF TIME. This gives us the opportunity to move or cancel the war if enough people can't make it, or to kick you for the search and invite you back after.
Second, we don't kick people if they're trying, but there were also a couple instances of people showing up and attacking with whatever army they happened to have, which in one case was 210 archers. That is not trying. Trying means that if you're having trouble, you need to PRACTICE with you war armies, and learn from your mistakes. There are plenty of resources on this blog and other places about the most common war armies and how to use them.
Which brings me to my last point. There's been a lot of discussion lately about what we can do to win more wars, and I think a lot of it lies in being more strategic about who we attack. We had far too many 0 and 1 star battles throughout, but particularly among our higher level players, which is very difficult to overcome.
Instead of getting 0 or 1 star on a higher base, we may pick up more total stars if some of our higher players are not aiming quite as high. I'm not necessarily saying we should be ignoring the top bases, but we may be able to send some of our slightly lower players to get 50% on some of their tougher town hall 10's and 9's, which are generally getting 1-starred already, but by higher players. This would free up higher players to get 2 stars on bases we're 1 starring right now, and 3 stars on bases we're 2 starring.
Consider this: even missing 7 battles, mostly by high level players, we still would have won if we'd 3 starred every base below #30.
What I'd like to try and do is have myself or another clan member post a basic strategy here every week before battle day, which may cover the best army for each base, and which higher bases we might want a lower player to 1 star. People should be able to comment on these posts as well, and maybe we can use them for people to strategize about what bases they're attacking and what armies to use.
